INTRODUCTION:
The Secondary Seal was indigenously developed and introduced by
Roshan Industries in 1992. Primarily built to consolidate the effectiveness
of the Primary Seal, the Secondary seal further diminishes about
95% of evaporation losses. This translates into phenomenal savings
in terms of product and money. Although, Roshan Industries had introduced
this product 4 years back it is just recently that the Indian
Refinery Sector has started to realise its inherent importance.
In fact, America and numerous European countries have already made
the Secondary seal compulsory in their refineries. The RSO1 is so
constructed to prevent vapour emission that have escaped through
the primary seal. The RSO1 is made up of compression plates fabricated
from hot dipped galvanised plates. Its design serves to press the
foam covered seal material to the tank shell uniformly thus giving
a contact point of maximum 300mm. This Secondary seal also functions
as a weather protector.
CHARACTERISTIC:
The RSO1 can be used with all known primary seals and can be designed
to accommodate rim gaps from 150 to 300 mm and is easy to mount
onto a horizontal or vertical up stand on the floating roof. RSO1
can either be installed along with a new primary seal or added to
an existing primary seal. Additional advantage of the RSO1 is it
relatively low overall height there by minimising tank volume loss.
ADVANTAGES :
Saves 95% of evaporation losses caused due to sole use
of primary seal only. Increases the tenacity of the inner shell
coating. Takes care of the extreme irregularities in the tank shell
where primary seal shows limitations. Annuls environmental pollution.
Decreases advent of rain water. Provides an contact surfaces of
100mm to 300mm with tank shell. Additional vapour barrier membrane.
ECO-FRIENDLY :
Needless to say by further saving 95% evaporation loss, the secondary
seal prevents environment pollution and helps maintain a healthier
surroundings. Even the best primary seal (foam, liquid, etc.) inevitably
allows around 0.6% to 0.98% evaporation losses depending on external
features like temperature, wind speed and tank shell distortion.
Installation of the RSO1 abates around 95% of. these losses. More
details can be supplied relating to the RSO1 secondary seal.
Developed
to function as an additional safeguard against emision losses due
to extreme irregularities in the tank shell and attrition of the
inner shell coating. Basically two types of Secondary seal have
been currently developed and introduced by ROSHAN
INDUSTRIES, namely,
RS01 and RW02, each designed to fulfill specific purposes. RS01-
compensates for extreme irregularities in the tank shell and also
prevents attrition of the inner shell coating. RW02- Takes care
of attrition of the inner shell coating.
* The secondary
seal is an additional accessory and not an alternative to the primary
seal.
